Seattle delivered today! Too bad the Seahawks couldn’t deliver yesterday, but football and home buying don’t really have that much in common, so I don’t really know where I was going with that. Oh, yes… my search results for wonderful mid century modern homes in Seattle delivered 37 listings (and I was being picky). It felt like all the homes for sale in Seattle are mid century. You can’t beat that! I picked my top 4 listings to share with you, but if you want to check out the rest I’ve included the link for you here – 37 Mid Century Listings For Sale In Seattle.
Ok, now let’s get to the good, good…
First up, water views and wood paneling for days! Designed by architect Jerry Gropp and on the market for the first time. From photos the house appears to be purely original with breathtaking views of Puget Sound and Vashon Island, a large shop and a sauna. Not to mention 250 feet of beach and 5 acres of tidelands Just outside of West Seattle in Seola Beach, Shorewood area, yet feel so outside of the city hustle. The price includes a credit towards a retaining wall as well.
Our second house on McGilvra has me sold at the front door. You just know it’s going to be good. Such a a tease! A masterpiece designed by Roland Terry who also designed the famous Canlis and many other well know buildings is Seattle. The home last sold in 2015 and was recently remodeled and listed for nearly double it’s sales price from 2 years ago. I’m at a loss for words. This is the house mid century modern dreams are made of!
The third house is actually a townhome. A little mid century forest retreat. I love all the outdoor spaces and the tile hearth with the sunken living room. Something about it just feels homey. Lost of upgraded amenities, some that need to revert back (ahem, light fixtures), but nothing a couple hundred dollars and some paint can’t fix.
Last, we have another waterfront home near Alki Beach. Perfectly untouched with a General Electric Stereo Console in the living room. That’s how you can tell it’s a true mid century home! The expansive views from the living room almost rival the avocado kitchen. Did anyone ever live in this house? It looks like it’s in MINT condition!
Enjoy my friends!
